Tiffany Wright

[I was wondering if you guys would be interested in using this thing more often than when we are given a blog topic, just for the more interactive piece of the course so I decided to give this a shot]

...What are your thoughts on the Tiffany Wright incident? Not only was she shot and killed at her bus stop, but now her baby has also taken its last breath. What do you guys think should be done about the guy in question? I've heard some say that he should be a candidate for capital punishment and others say that there is nothing that really will serve as accurate punishment. Any thoughts?...

  1. I am very thorough person. That is why I want to hear both side of the story to see what happen. Unfortunately, the victim was killed. So now, we don’t know exactly what the true story is because we can only hear one side of the story.

  2. If the courts decide that the accused is guilty then he should serve any punishment they deem as worthy of this crime. If that means capital punishment then so be it.

Our court system has experience in cases similar to this one so I have full faith in them to make the proper decision. This crime obviously deserves a severe punishment and I am sure that there will be one.

Life and death should not be placed in the hands of people. Issuing capital punishment makes our country no better than the members of society that commit the first acts of murder.

Third world countries follow the eye for an eye philosophy. We are no third world country.

  3. Taking a life is something that is punishable by the death penalty. Granted there are circumstances that would be outside the realm of "heinous crimes", but I do not beleive this case is one of them. I am unsure if North Carolina is a state that utilizes the dealth penalty, but I am sure the courts will be able to rule a just punishment.

  4. This crime was atrocious and I'm sure the system will prosecute fully. Three lives were lost in this ordeal. Tiffany Wright was a child and she was taken advantage of. It seems like her family didn't know what was going on in this relationship and she was left to make adult decisions. Children who have to make adult decisions are already at a disadvantage. The question is, how do you prevent situations like this from happening to other youths?

  5. The murder of Tiffany Wright is an extremely upsetting tragedy. Tiffany was a 15-year-old high school student that was 32 weeks pregnant. People that knew Tiffany described her as being a very smart, friendly girl who always stayed positive despite going through several ordeals in life.

No one has been charged yet with Tiffany's murder, but the main 'person of interest' in the case is Royce Mitchell, Tiffany's adoptive brother. Mitchell was appointed Tiffany's guardian after the death of her foster mother, despite having spent time in prison and being on trial for murder.

If Mitchell really is the man who fatally shot Tiffany Wright in the head, this crime should have been prevented. Social workers had come to police, telling them that Mitchell had had sex with Wright, which is statutory rape and indecent liberties with a minor. The police did nothing about these accusations until after Tiffany was dead. Tiffany had also told detectives that Mitchell was the faher of her baby. Police should have arrested him immediately, and possibly could have prevented her untimely death.

Royce Mitchell has been charged with statutory rape of Tiffany Wright, but not yet charged with the murder of her and her baby. If charged and convicted of these brutal crimes, he obviously deserves whatever punishment the court sees as justifiable. If it were up to me, I would give him the death penalty. He has spent time in prison, been on trial for murder, recently charged with statutory rape and indecent liberties with a minor, and looking at first degree double murder. This is a man that has had far too many chances and contributes absolutely nothing to society.

I believe that capital punishment is the only accurate punishment for this horrific crime, especially for a man with the track record of Mitchell's. However, if Mitchell is convicted of these murders, the police are the real people to blame. They even got a confession from Tiffany for having sex with Mitchell, and they did nothing. Mitchell should have been sitting in jail the day that Tiffany Wright was shot and killed. This was a horrible tragedy, but maybe the police learned a valuable lesson in handling statutory rape allegations.
